• It was the observation and analysis of these problems which led to the design, manufacture and patenting of the TRENCHLINK system.

Introduction of Trenchlink.

The TRENCHLINK road plates have been developed and patented over the past two years, in order to overcome many of the costly delays and problems encountered by utility contractors during expensive cable and pipe laying contracts within city boundaries.

As any contractor will be aware, these costs arise due to the difficulty of maintaining an effective traffic flow and working within restricted hours, in order to minimize disruption to business and the general public. These costs are onerous on the contractor in terms of man-hours lost, underutilization of machinery and wastage of materials. The current practice of using large steel sheeting to provide temporary cover for trenches is impractical due to the physical difficulty of handling these units on site and ensuring they will stay in position with the high volumes of traffic encountered on city streets.

BENEFITS OF THE TRENCHLINK SYSTEM.

  • Reduces disruption to traffic particularly on road crossings, as plates can be laid temporarily before rush hours and quickly removed for permanent reinstatement on the following day.
  • Removes the need for temporary tar resulting in significant savings in labour and machine time for digging crew involved in laying temporary tar.
  • Direct savings in the material cost and the disposal of tar.
  • The above savings will translate into an increase in output for both the digging and the permanent crews particularly when top?cutters are in use.
  • Removes the need for the extensive use of cones and road signs saving substantial losses in theft and damage. Ensures greater pedestrian safety on pathways, driveways and roads
